Knapp acht Monate bin ich jetzt unterwegs. Begonnen hat die Reise jedoch schon vorher, naemlich mit der Entscheidung dafuer. Vieles verlor, einiges gewann dadurch an Bedeutung. Zwei Dinge insbesonders. Besitz, auch wenn ich erst lernen musste diesen loszulassen, verlor und Menschen gewannen an Bedeutung. Umso schwerer, bis hin zu Zweifeln ueber die Richtigkeit meines Vorhabens, viel mir der Abschied von Freunden und Familie.
Acht Monate also. Acht Monate voller Ereignisse, Erfahrungen und Emotionen. Ich habe sicherlich nichts gemacht, was nicht schon zich andere vor mir getan haben, doch fuer mich ganz persoenlich uebertrifft das bereits erlebte alles, was ich mir vor Beginn der Reise auch nur im Ansatz haette vorstellen koennen. Es gab viele “haette”, “koennte”, “sollte”, doch resuemierend muss ich sagen, ist alles gut so wie es ist. Alle Entscheidungen (und es waren verdammt viele), egal ob gut oder schlecht, haben mich stets an die richtigen Orte und zu den richtigen Menschen gefuehrt. Fast schon unheimlich, wie sich die Begebenheiten teilweise ineinander fuegen.
Fakten
Bis haeute habe ich ca. 55.000 km ob mit Flugzeug, Bus oder per Boot zurueckgelegt. Faktisch also schon um die Welt 
Dabei ging es ueber 4 Kontinente, durch 18 Laender und ueber 45 mehr oder weniger erwaehnenswerte Staedte.
Das ist einiges im Bezug auf den kurzen Zeitraum. Folglich habe ich nie laenger wie eine Woche an einem Ort, manchmal gar in einem Land verbracht. Ausruestung
Ich scheine mich ganz gut vorbereitet zu haben. Bis auf mein Zelt, dass ich bisher nur ein Mal benutzt habe und dabei fast erfroren bin, hat alles seinen Nutwert bewiesen und befindet in staendigem Gebrauch. Joe, die mich in Guatemala begleitet hat, hat mich liebevoll als “Gadget-Man” bezeichnet , doch moechte ich meine Kameras, den Voicerecorder und all die kleinen Zubehoerteilchen nicht missen. Neue Dinge kommen dazu, altes laesst man dafuer liegen. Bis auf das Freiburg T-Shirt ist zum Glueck nichts Wichtiges abhanden gekommen. Wollen wir mal Hoffen, dass das bis zum Ende auch so bleibt.
Alte und neue Sprachen
Deutsch
Gut, deutsch spreche ich schon seit Erlangen meines Sprachvermoegens, Deutsch gesprochen habe ich jedoch aeusserst selten. Teilweise ueber Wochen nicht.
Englisch
Egal ob Israelis, Daenen, Franzosen, Spanier, Japaner, Russen, Inder oder was auch immer. Die internationale Sprache, auf die sich verstaendigt wird, ist Englisch. Regelmaessig Englisch gesprochen habe ich zuletzt in der Schule, umso ueberraschter war ich, wie gut es dann doch klappt. Nicht genuegend, um wirklich tiefgreifende Gespraeche zu fuehren, ausreichend jedoch, um ungezwungen Konversation zu fuehren, Sympatien zu erkennen oder zu wecken.
Spanisch
Intensivstes Spanisch-Vocabeltraining, begonnen bereits in Freiburg bis zum Buchstaben “O” meines Aldi-Audio-Sprachkurses 
plus hier und da aufgeschnappte Woerter bei Lena und Luis in Mexico, plus eine Woche Sprachkurs in Gutatemala, haben mich ganz gut durch Zentral- und Suedamerika gebracht. “Waere” ich nicht so faul gewesen und “haette” kontinuierlich weitergelernt, “waere” sicherlich einiges mehr drin gewesen, doch ich bin ganz zufrieden. Die Basis ist da und es steht mir jederzeit frei sie auszubauen.
Franzoesisch
Mein ohnehin schon schlechtes Franzoesisch, welches sich beim Spanisch lernen doch als sehr nuetzlich erwiesen hat, hat darunter leider sehr stark gelitten. Wo immer ich Franzosen treffe, versuche ich franzoesisch zu sprechen, doch haben sich manche Spanisch-Vokabeln derart eingebrannt, dass sie mir das eigentlich bekannte franzoesische pendant ersetzt haben.
Als positiv berwerte ich, dass ich die Scheu andere Sprachen zu sprechen, auch wenn ich sie nicht beherrsche, verloren habe. Laengerfristig habe ich vor mein Sprachenrepartoir auf jeden Fall um Franzoesisch und Spanisch neben Englisch natuerlich zu erweitern.
Menschen
Was passiert, wenn ein eher kontaktscheuer Mensch, wie ich es bin, alleine auf Weltreise geht?
Er lernt Menschen kennen, ob er will oder nicht Das “Problem” besteht nicht darin Kontakte zu knuepfen, sondern Menschen zu treffen, mit denen man sich versteht, die einem sympathisch sind. Grundvoraussetzung fuer gemeinsames Reisen, egal ob fuer einen Tag, eine Woche oder gar mehr. Es gab Momente, in denen ich mich sehr alleine gefuehlt habe aber auch solche, in denen ich mir wuenschte mal wieder fuer mich sein zu koennen. Menschen sind es meiner Meinung nach auch, die eine solche Reise ueberhaupt erst interessant machen. Egal ob Einheimische, andere Reisende oder auch die Daheimgebliebenen.
Einheimische….
Einheimische verschaffen einem einen kleinen Einblick hinter die Fassaden, hinter die man als Tourist nicht zu schauen vermag. Gerade diese Einblicke haben mir mitunter die schoensten Momente bereitet. Ueber die Couchsurf-Community habe ich nicht nur kostenlose Unterkuenfte erhalten. Schlliesslich trennen sich die Wege wieder. Ab und an denke ich darueber nach, ob es nicht besser waere einen festen Reisepartner zu haben, verwerfe diesen Gedanken aber wieder, da mir uneingeschraenkte Flexibilitaet und Unabhaengigkeit nach wie vor an erster Stelle stehen.
Tja, und urch meine Leute zu Hause habe ich das erste Mal in meinem Leben erfahren, was es heisst wirklich zu vermissen. Eine schmerzhafte aber auch schoene Erfahrung, denn Vermissen bedeutet, dass ihr mir sehr am Herzen liegt. Ihr habt mir sehr viel geholfen, sowohl vor als auch waehrend meiner Reise und ich weiss das sehr zu schaetzen!
Noch habe ich keinen Ort gefunden, an dem ich lieber leben wollte als in Freiburg. Wer also insgeheim gehofft hat mich los zu sein, hat Pech gehabt. Ich komme wieder

Das Reisen hat sich seit Suedamerika sehr stark veraendert. Statt leichter ist es schwieriger geworden. Das liegt nicht an den Laendern. Nein, es gibt nach wie vor nichts Spannenderes als fremde Laender zu erkunden und Neuseeland und Australien waren eher wie Urlaub, sondern dafuer gibt es andere Gruende. Gruende materieller Natur, wie Geld, viel existenzieller aber ist, was sich in mir selbst abspielt. Es zu beschreiben, waere zu komplex und auch zu persoenlich 
doch bei Langzeitreisen ueberschreitet man irgendwann einen gewissen Punkt. Ein Punkt an dem Vergangenheit, Gegenwart un Zukunft aufeinander treffen und man beginnt Fragen zu stellen??????
